New research shows five healthy behaviors may prevent up to 80 percent of heart attacks in men.
Researchers say only about one percent of men in the study did all five of these behaviors, but they had a far lower risk of having a heart attack than the others.
The five healthy habits are:
- Drink moderately
- Don’t smoke
- Eat healthy
- Exercise often
- Stay at a healthy weight.
Experts say even the healthiest of men still have a chance of heaving a heart attack, since there’s no way to get around genetics. They say even improving your health in one or two of these categories can lower your risk.
